Gary L. Berkshire, Sr. | Co-Founder & Co-Owner
From humble beginnings, Gary’s passion for the outdoors and appreciation for natural landscapes sparked a vision to create meaningful outdoor environments. His curiosity about design, plant life, and the balance between nature and structure inspired him to develop landscapes that blend beauty, functionality, and sustainability. Gary possesses deep knowledge of landscape materials and the best practices, allowing him to guide projects with both skill and precision. His passion for landscaping extends beyond business - it is a lifelong pursuit rooted in pride, discipline, and respect for the land. Gary’s hand-on approach and unwavering standards have helped shape the culture of Four Seasons, creating a team that values hard work, craftsmanship, and accountability. What started as a personal love for working with the land grew into a dream of helping clients enhance their properties with thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces that can be enjoyed for years to come.
In 1979, Gary Berkshire Sr. started what would become a prominent landscape maintenance company. With just one truck, a small trailer, and a single employee, he set out with a simple goal: to make the environment a little better.
In the early days, Gary went door to door, ringing doorbells and offering his services to homeowners. Through hard work, determination, and a deep passion for plant care and the environment, the company steadily grew.
Nearly 50 years later, that small startup has evolved into Four Seasons Lawn Service and Landscaping, Inc., employing over 45 people and operating multiple specialized divisions, including maintenance, irrigation, construction, and winter management. Today, the company focuses exclusively on servicing commercial and industrial properties.
Gary and his wife, co-owner of the company, worked tirelessly to build an award-winning and reputable landscape and maintenance business. Four Seasons Lawn Service and Landscaping, Inc. has become known for its exceptional quality, pristine workmanship, dedication, loyalty, and punctual service.
Even today, Gary remains a working owner who continues to spend time in the field. He stays actively involved in many of the company’s projects, maintaining a hands-on approach that reflects the same work ethic the business was built on. He also personally works on the company’s equipment and is well known for his ability to fabricate and repair just about anything needed to keep operations running smoothly and without delay.
Gary is also a dedicated father of five. He raised his children with the same values that built his company—teaching them how to work with their hands, how to make a living through honest effort, and that hard work brings meaningful rewards. His commitment to family, community, and craftsmanship continues to define both his life and the legacy of the company he built.
Family has always been an important part of the company’s story. Over the years, each of Gary’s five children has worked in and contributed to the business at one time or another, gaining firsthand experience in the values and work ethic that built the company. Youngest son, Bradley, works full-time with Four Seasons Lawn Service and Landscaping, Inc. and serves as a director within the organization. His oldest son operates a successful hardscape company and works closely with Four Seasons by providing and completing the company’s hardscape projects. Gary’s other two sons and his daughter have also played a role in the company over the years, each contributing their time and effort and helping support the family business in different ways. Their involvement reflects the strong family foundation that has been part of Four Seasons since its earliest days.
